The Boneyard Beach on Edisto Island near Charleston, South Carolina. As beach erosion continues to expose these majestic trees to the surf, it creates surreal and interesting scenes. This was a wonderfully peaceful moment that I enjoyed alone just after I arrived at the beach just before sunrise. I liked the way that the orange and red light of the coming sunrise reflected in the wet sand on the beach.
Folly Beach is a popular beach near Charleston, South Carolina. All along the beach you can find groynes just like this one used to slow down the ever present beach erosion. This particular groyne drew my attention with its bright green moss.
Folly Beach is a popular beach near Charleston, South Carolina. On the far north end of the island is a state park where you can see the remains of the old Morris Island. The island has been washed away, but the light that was constructed in 1876 still remains. For this photograph, I was able to catch the sun for only a few minutes as it finally appeared between two cloud layers. I liked the way this old tree cast an interesting shadow across the sand.
